What To See And How To See It Athens

Recent shot of the Parthenon, Athens, GreeceImage via Wikipedia
There are so many aspects of current civilization that were birthed in ancient Athens. Among these are theatre, philosophy, democracy, classical art and even the Olympic games. Athens is located on the southern coast of Greece and has existed for over 7,000 years providing a rich culture expressed in a diverse setting. The term diverse fits as you will find ancient relics and sites in some of the same areas where there are trendy boutiques and sidewalk cafes all mixed in together. This mixture of the very old and the new create a very unique experience provided nowhere in the world like it is provided in the ancient city of Athens. You will need to be sure your passport is up to day so if you need to add passport pages, be sure to go online and access a passport site to help you with this so you can be on you way.
World travel requires a passport but computers have simplified all passport needs. Even if you have to get an emergency passport, an online passport is available to help you. No one plans to have their travel documents lost or stolen but if this happens, help is as close as the nearest computer.
Athens is a city that contains many sites that make history come alive so this is certainly the ideal place for lovers of history to visit. High on top of the Acropolis you will find the Parthenon. This famous sight has earned the honor of being named as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Investigating these ruins takes you back to sights names in Greek Mythology related to gods and goddesses, the titans and many other mythological characters. Admission to this site also opens the Theatre of Dionysus, the Roman Agora and the Temple of Olympian Zeus to the traveler.
Being the birthplace of the performing arts, it is no wonder that the arts and culture are very important to the Athenians. While the National Gallery is certainly large and well known, many smaller art galleries populate the city. Athens is also host to approximately 148 theatres so if you are in the mood for a show, the difficult part will be which performance to see. Among the theatres is the famous Herodes Atticus Theatre.
Using a bike or even walking around this city is a wonderful way to see the sights. Green space is always welcome when you travel to big cities and the National Garden of Athens provides an exceptional treat. Within it can be found a small zoo, ponds with ducks, colorful flowers and beautiful landscape with no shortage of a shady tree to relax under and consider the sights of the day.
For those who would like to shop till your drop, your experience will be a little different in Athens. Rather than large malls and strip centers, you will find street vendors selling custom crafts rather than name brand items. Some of the most visited markets are found on Plaka, Kolonaki and Ermou Street. You will find endless selections of shoes, purses and jewelry if you visit here and the quality will certainly not disappoint you.
Authentic cuisine is always interesting in a foreign city and Athens is no exception to this rule. Known for their souvlaki, which is comprised of grilled meat, veggies and a special yogurt sauce, this Athenian staple is considered a treat by all who try it.

Travelling the World

Roof Top Tennis Court in SingaporeImage via Wikipedia
Everyone is looking to save money. And although we are tightening our belts, it doesn't mean we have to sacrifice our vacation. Some creative thinking, research, and due diligence can prove to be a great savings for vacation. Here are the 10 best ways to save money on any road trip, no matter what time of year, car you drive, or your destination.
1.) Home Swaps or Home Rentals is the place to start for lodging. Consider traveling with family friends who may be planning a trip to the same area to split the costs. This will keep costs down on lodging. Renting a home will also save money on dining out and cooking responsibilities can be divided so everyone enjoys their vacation. Also, a lot of home vacation rentals offer amenities like a pool, basketball or tennis courts and golfing at no extra charge.
2.) Consider RVing or Camping as campgrounds offer lower rates than hotels. You will also save money on eating out. Campgrounds and RV parks also offer amenities likes pools. You can also combine the experience of pitching a tent with a couple of nights in a hotel to take advantage of necessities like a hot shower. Consider a hotel with a kitchenette. Choice hotels has a great rewards program and offers hotels across the country equipped with kitchens and at affordable rates along with other promotional offers.
3.) Take Snacks along for the ride to avoid stopping at restaurants or fast food chains. This also helps to avoid buying snacks on the road when stopping to get gas. Pack a cooler with drinks, water, sandwiches, and take larger bags of chips instead of individual bags, and boxes instead of individual sweets.
4.) Search for Online Coupons for groceries to take on your trip, discounts on attractions in your destination area, hotel stays, and gift certificates for gas purchases.
5.) Weekday and Off Season Travel always offers cheaper rates for hotels, campgrounds, and attractions to such things like theme parks. Also, the crowds are fewer and traffic will be less of a hassle that will save you gas from sitting in traffic jams.
6.) Take Advantage of Free Entertainment like museums, national parks, or arts & crafts shows. When you arrive at your destination, check with the local Chamber of Commerce or Visitors Center to find information on local events like concerts, festivals and other attractions that are free of charge.
7.) Utilize Public Transit such as buses, subways, rail or trolley cars. If you're planning an extended stay in a certain area, check to see if they offer a transportation pass where you pay a flat rate for unlimited rides. Sometimes these passes also come with admission to local attractions.
8.) Know Your Credit Card Rewards to save on certain attractions, hotels, gas, food, air fare, and more. Some credit card companies offer travel packages at discounted rates through affiliates. You can even find deals like coupons that don't affect your rewards points.
9.) A Vehicle Tune Up is a must before any road trip to avoid costly breakdowns. If your not mechanically inclined have your mechanic do a basic tune up on your car and make sure it includes an oil change.
10.) Have a Budget and Stick To It to avoid getting caught with no funds or a maxed out credit card if an emergency arises. Map out and plan your trip. Getting the most fuel mileage possible is important and simple things like keeping the correct tire pressure and using your cruise control will save money at the pump.
Apart from this, I have created a few other articles regarding places of interest, do stop by if you have the time to!

Travelling With Pets - How to Find Pet Friendly Hotels

As the owner of 2 German Shepherd dogs, I was planning to take a few days get-a-way along California Highway #1. Until I actually started making my plans, I thought I would have a very hard time finding a hotel that would take the two large dogs, but was pleasantly surprised to find there is lots of information to help vacationers, with pets find the right hotel to stay at.
My search found many places where I could stay with my two dogs. I got the name and location of places that accepted pets, phone numbers, the weight of pets they wouldl accept, how many could stay at one time and the cost. The Fees were listed according to the weight of the pet and I was also given, the hotels charges per night for the accommodations and in some instances I was able to make my reservation online.
After reading all they had to offer, as well as recommendations of prior guests, which were posted, on the different hotel sites, I chose the Best Western Cavalier Inn.
This hotel has all non-smoking rooms with either king or two queen beds. The rate varies depending on the location of the rooms. Choices ranged from rooms right on the bluff, with the ocean just 20 feet below, To oceanfront rooms, 100 feet back from the ocean bluff and rooms with a view of the ocean. Many of the rooms come with wood burning fireplaces, soaking tubs, TV's, internet access and sliding glass doors that lead to private patios, from which you will have a front row seat to the spectacular sunsets. Cars are parked right outside the entrance to the rooms downstairs, and for guests upstairs, their parking is convenient to the stairs leading to the top floor.
The beautiful landscaped grounds have panoramic ocean views, are lighted in the evenings with fire pits, that have seats nearby, and which are also lit, to keep off the evening chill that is common along the coast. There is lots of lawn areas and pathways for leashed pets to walk and play on. The hotel even furnishes the doggie scuppers.
Getting to this location, along highway 1, there are many swimming beaches one can stop at, or drive out among the sand dunes, go boating or fishing. If it is the right season, whales cavorting off-shore. A short detour Inland, there are lots of wineries, open for tours, wine tasting or to purchase a bottle of your favorite.

Save Money on Philadelphia Airport Parking Fees

US Airways Airbus A319 registered N769US at Ph...Image via Wikipedia
Parking at the Philadelphia International Airport can be an adventure in itself. Travelers need to be aware of parking fees and how to get the best deals.
If you just go to the airport thinking you will find a cheap place to park, think again. The parking lots are sitting there just waiting for you to turn up unaware of prices and policies.
The worst example we found was parking your car at any on-site parking lot at Philadelphia International Airport. All of the Philadelphia on-site lots are owned by the city of Phila. and run by companies for them. The city sets the price it wants people to pay when they either pre-book a space or just turn up at one of the parking lots.
One way to save money is to park at one of the privately run remote airport parking lots near PHL, and there are many of them. These are often cheaper than the airports own long-term parking lots, and online discounts can make parking at one of these facilities even cheaper.
Drivers often avoid the private airport parking lots, thinking it will take extra time to transfer to and from the airport. But many of these private parking lots are also a shuttle ride away from the terminal. And at busier airports, such as Philadelphia and New York's JFK, the long-term parking lot is often full, which means you could spend half an hour looking for a space before searching for a remote parking lot anyway.
Another good alternative is to find a hotel in the area of the airport which has a secured parking facility and free shuttle service 24 hours a day.
One of the best Hotels in the Philadelphia area offering this service is the Philadelphia Airport Ramada's Park and Jet, which is located just 2 miles from the airport and offers free shuttle service to and from your car 24 hours a day, 7 day a week.
When you return from your trip, you just pick-up one of the direct phone lines in the airport and they will come pick you up.
They also have a coupon on their website and they also offer Park Sleep Fly package deals where you stay overnight and fly out in the morning. So, the moral of the story is to do your research in advance of your trip, compare prices and get the best deal online.

Koh Chang Encounter

Being new to Thailand and having just survived a few days in chaotic Bangkok, we were not sure what to expect when we arrived on the Island of Koh Chang. The easiest way to get to Koh Chang is by taking an hour plane ride from Bangkok via Bangkok Air. Our first surprise on this flight was the free sandwich. Free food, seriously? The second was the thatch roofed airport that looked more like a tropical lodge. Ok, I think this will do. Many wonderful surprises were in store, but nothing more amazing than spending the afternoon at the Elephant Camp.
We had heard about the Elephant Camps in Thailand, which were given mixed reviews. We heard a heart-breaking story about a camp that had a baby elephant last year. They allowed so many tourists to pay to feed it that it became ill and died. We also heard about owners that beat their elephants so that they could learn unnatural tricks, like painting with their trunks. Nothing that we wanted to encourage or even to witness. We spoke to the owner of our resort who introduced us to a camp that rescued elephants from Northern Thailand. He explained that each elephant had a "Mahout" or trainer for life that lived with it in the camp in the jungle for its entire life. No elephant acts, just jungle rides to a pool where the elephant can take a swim in a cool pool and get scrubbed down by tourists with shower brushes. We signed up for a visit the next day.
When we arrived at the camp there were elephants ambling in the periphery all being jockeyed by a barefooted Mahout. As the group gathered some of the elephants came in to investigate as pineapple wedges were given to all of the guests. I am the sort that tends to feed the dog from the table (if you have ever been to my house you would be immediately aware of this as evidenced by my poorly behaved dog around meal time). I can tell you though that there is nothing subtle about elephants. I brought an offering to the terrace railing and, with permission from the Mahout, offered up a slice. The large trunk extended up, offer accepted. Glee!
Feeding an elephant and riding it however, were two different things in my estimation. Allow me at this moment to admit a fear of heights and a tendency to like to feel in control of situations. Neither of these leanings, I was sure, were going to be well served on top of the elephant. Despite my concerns and sweaty palms, I entered the "loading platform" and awkwardly climbed onto the bench atop the elephant. While I adjusted to the situation I noted that my husband was not suffering the same anxiety and was instead grinning like a little boy. Good for him. Are we having fun yet?
The first thing I noted was that the elephants skin felt like a football with bristles. Our cheerful Mahout/Guide explained that the elephant's skin was actually several inches thick and that carrying our weight was quite easy for him. Luckily our chatty host was a wealth of information and listening to him served as a distraction from my anxiety. With each step of the elephant we swung left and right and I tried to make little show of my glances around our "saddle" and concern about the potential for it slide off leaving us under one of dumbo's massive feet. The Mahout continuously tapped the elephants ears with his toes and explained that this was how he actually steered the elephant. Tap on the right, turn right. Tap on the left, turn left, etc. We asked then why he carried a stick and he mentioned that at times this was needed to get the elephants attention, but that you don't want to hit an elephant too much because then it would be an angry elephant, and "no one can control an angry elephant". Noted.
At this point our guide explained that the elephant that we were riding had been with them for 2 years, and that he was his trainer because he was the Mahout for all of the "naughty elephants." Hmmm. At this point of our journey we aimed toward a muddy path that led downward toward the stream. It was very steep and the elephant needed to walk with one foot in front of the other in order to navigate the path. Kind of like an oversize ballerina wearing snow shoes down a slide. Sensing my concern the Mahout explained that "elephants not like to fall down." I took this as somewhat good news.
We made it down the bank and my husband had a fantastic time jumping in the water and having a go at dumbo with the scrub brush. Dumbo seemed to like it too, although that didn't stop him from showing us how to use his trunk as a water cannon. Good times!
We made it back to camp and the elephants lined up to accept bananas. "Elephant always hungry" we were told. At that moment I learned that because elephants' eyes are situated at the side of their head they have some difficulty seeing what is directly in front of them. This resulted in a frenzy of trunks from these massive creatures greedily waving in front of me seeking out a snack. It was surreal. But fun.
Koh Chang had many other surprises and was by far our favorite spot during our trip to Thailand. Amazing beaches, fresh seafood, fire dancers, floating fishing villages and elephants....perfection.

Is Thailand a Viable Place to Retire

Thailand has been my home for six years now, and one thing that I've found to be true is that many things change, but overall - things remain the same. I'll try to explain that further to you below.
The basic truths about living in Thailand stay the same year after year - so, living here is not so much a question of whether or not you can. It's more a question of whether or not you want to continue to play the game and go through all the motions required to stay because they change frequently.
Foreigners can move to Thailand under one of the visa options and live for 3-12 months at a time before needing to consider renewing them. Unless you have a year-long visa to stay, it's rather bothersome to keep figuring out where you will go for a visa run out of the country, or which visa you will try to get that will enable you to remain living in the country. If you are retired and you have a few hundred thousand Thai Baht, or you can prove 40,000 Thai Baht income per month that originates from outside the country - then, at the moment, you can stay and get a non-immigrant visa based on that situation.
The details of getting visas - the amounts you must have for retirement visas, the location you must go to get double entry visas rather than single entry visas, and many other variables change all the time. What doesn't change is that foreigners can consistently come to Thailand and live for basically as long as they want as long as they jump through the visa hoops immigration gives us.
Another issue that changes fast and often for foreigners considering retiring here, is that of safety in Thailand. Bangkok has recently been under fire as political parties joust for supremacy and control of the country since the ex- prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra fled the country. Bullets flew in Bangkok, grenades went off, and fires were set. Bangkok routinely goes through these unsafe periods, but they always calm down - until the next time.
Thailand is basically safe, and remains safe, but there are times when those in Bangkok will need to play it very safe and avoid the areas under fire.
The teaching situation for retired foreigners that teach English has changed rather drastically lately. Foreigners are now required to be licensed by the Ministry of Education in Thailand. This is a major change, and has prompted vast numbers of barely qualified English teachers to flee the country for greener grass. The pay has not gone up for teachers in Thailand in years, and many of us are left wondering if Thailand really wants to educate their students - the next generations, to a high degree.
Yet, teaching is always available in the country, and those teachers that come from abroad and jump through the hoops can teach just like they always have. "Same-same, but different" is a saying here in Thailand, and it applies in many situations.
If you are considering retiring in Thailand or moving and trying it out before deciding to retire you should live for a while in both Bangkok and in another city, perhaps in the south or northeast to get a well-rounded picture of what life is like in both locations. Life is vastly different in parts outside Bangkok, and I myself find it worlds better away from the capital.

Experience True Honeymoon Romance in Mauritius

DSCF2257Image by tjs0803 via Flickr
Some call Mauritius paradise, and they're not far off.  There is a reason that the rich and famous choose to spend their holidays on this glorious island, which is located in the Indian Ocean not far from the rest of Africa.  The island is as pretty as a postcard; the blueness of the bright sky combined with the endless turquoise sea can almost hurt your eyes with its beauty.  The interior of the island is a lush green, with forests, mountains, and plantations to lend it all that special fairy tale aspect.
It's also perfect for your honeymoon.  Not only is the backdrop simply to die for, but the water is warm and there is plenty to do over the course of your long, lazy days.  Each and every hotel hosts a bevy of land and water sports, so if you're active types you'll find plenty of different ways to amuse yourselves.  Mauritius honeymoons can not only provide you with the perfect opportunity to relax, but with new experiences to indulge in over the course of your honeymoon.  Best of all, there is never a bad time to go to Mauritius; it's stunning and warm year-round, so no matter when you choose to celebrate your marriage you'll be able to choose this destination.  Despite the fact that it's still very warm in Mauritius's winter, this is considered the off season and you can get honeymoon at a true bargain price.
There are truly some amazing activities that you and your new spouse can indulge in upon your arrival at Mauritius.  Swimming with dolphins or even sharks can be both exciting and very romantic.  As honeymooners, you'll experience a few special perks that others can't access or would have to pay extra for; if you make clear that you're on your honeymoon, you should be able to get free upgrades, champagne, and even more goodies than you might expect.  It's worth making it clear, because having that room upgrade or a special candlelit dinner for free could really make your honeymoon that much more special, especially if you really couldn't afford it in the first place.
One of the best resorts for honeymooners on Mauritius is the Belle Mare Plage.  This five star restaurant is located on the east coast of the island, right next to one of the most beautiful beaches you'll find in the world.  Underneath the sparkling blue ocean is a coral reef, making the waters more peaceful and perfect for those who'd like to spend time both above and below its glittering surface.  The rooms themselves are nestled in lush tropical gardens; you can stay in one of three types of regular room or a villa set away from the other accommodation.
Choosing a villa means you'll be able to have romantic dinners for two on your own, and your own private swimming pool means you'll never have to worry about another person intruding on your romantic honeymoon.  They have extra bedrooms, however, so it's probably a better deal to choose a Prestige Room, located close to the pool, or a Junior suite, which will be quieter and a bit larger around their own pool.  The resort also boasts not one but two 18-hole championship golf courses, which are free for guests.
Heading to Mauritius on your honeymoon can be the romantic experience that seals your perfect marriage for good.  Pair it with a luxury safari to make the perfect twin centre honeymoon.

A Few Destinations Worth A Look At

Agate Falls in Michigan's Upper Peninsula off ...Image via Wikipedia
Everyone is always looking for great vacation ideas. While the world is full of popular vacation spots, there are also several places that people don't often think about.
Michigan's Upper Peninsula
Anyone who wants to spend time surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the world and meeting friendly locals, should plan a vacation to Michigan's Upper Peninsula. During the summer the temperature is perfect for hiking through the mature woods and swimming in the Great Lakes. During the fall, the deer hunting is fantastic, and during the snow is perfect for skiing and snowmobiling. Every so often a lucky tourist is treated to a glimpse of a moose, bald eagle, or wolf. The fishing is great year round.
Even if you aren't into outdoor activities, you will still find plenty to do in the Upper Peninsula. There are guided tours of the local copper mines, visit the many county fairs, or marvel over the tales of bravery that can be found at the Great Lakes Maritime Museum. No trip to the upper peninsula is complete until you've visited the world famous Soo Locks and eaten a pasty. Michigan's Upper Peninsula is the perfect vacation spot when you want to get away from the pressures of civilization and enjoy a peaceful vacation with your family.
Oregon
Form some reason when people think of vacationing on the west coast, they consider Washington and California, but they always overlook Oregon. Oregon is a fantastic vacation opportunity that your entire family will remember and talk about for the rest of their lives.
It's proximity to the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Ocean means that there is always some way for the outdoor enthusiast to entertain themselves. There are more opportunities for hiking, climbing, surfing, and swimming than a person can possibly take advantage of during a single vacation.
In addition to the outdoor activities, families can go on whale watching tours and explore the waterways. Oregon's rivers are perfect for kayaking and fishing. There are plenty of winery to tour and everyone should take advantage of the chance to travel the same path as Lewis and Clark did during their famous expedition. Every year Oregon plays host to one of the best Shakespeare Festival in the world.
Chincoteaque/Assateaque Island
There aren't many places where you can get so close to a genuine wild pony that you are practically breathing the same air as they are. Assateaque is one of those places. Although tourist are welcome to tour the island and snap pictures of the wild ponies and seabirds, the island in is uninhabited. It is a place for the wild things.
Assateaques sister island, Chincoteaque is a booming island where the natives respect both the sea and the wild creatures. Every summer, during the last week of July, a group of locals go over to Assateaque Island, rounding up the wild ponies and swimming them across the water to Chincoteaque where a portion of the foals are auctioned off. A trip to Chincoteaque during the Pony Penning Days is one that you will want to repeat over and over again.

Taganana - Tenerife

Santa Cruz de Tenerife Harbour (Tenerife). Can...Image via Wikipedia
Overview
One of the oldest settlements in the Tenerife Island is Taganana. It is the most peaceful remote village in Tenerife but it is very difficult to reach this village. Nature lovers and walkers find this village a paradise. It is situated in the municipality - Santa Cruz de Tenerife - on the Tenerife Island. The population of this village was 592 in the year 2009. It is connected by road to Las Mercedes and San Andres.
The travel to this fishing village was possible either by boat or foot until the year 1960. A tunnel was made to solve this problem and at preset road journey is possible through this tunnel. But the new road has lots of winds, twist and turns, thereby making the journey somewhat difficult. This effort has facilitated traveling to this little but beautiful village. It has steep mountain slopes that descend from the mountains - Anaga - to the Atlantic Ocean.
The small village square is next to the parish church which you could explore. Two most important things in this place are - Cultural Centre Parranda and Malvasia wine.
Climate
The average temperatures in a year are as follows:
1.Maximum - 24 °C in the month of August
2.Minimum - 17 °C in January
Art and Culture
One of the buildings that have been preserved in the village Taganana is the temple that has been dedicated to Our Lady of the Snows and it is one of the ancient buildings on the Tenerife Island in addition to the small houses. The interiors have 16th century Flemish style and it is a valuable treasure of art. You can see the Anaga massif's natural wealth - lush forests, untouched beaches - around Taganana.
Sports and Entertainment
If you take a stroll around the narrow streets of Taganana, you will see the old simple Canarian houses. San Roque and Benijo pebble beaches are highly popular with local surfers and there are a few bars and restaurants in this place.
High winds along the coast of Taganana could be awesome and tourists should be careful. Even when the sea is calm, there could be sudden dangerous currents and it is advisable to take advice from local people before taking a bath.
You can hike from Benijo to the village of El Draguillo - it got its name from a surviving dragon tree - along a dirt road that hugs the cliffs above the sea.
Business
The economy of this village is driven by agricultural products - potatoes, wine crops, yams and sweet potatoes.

Thailand Dental Holiday

View of Patong Beach, with condominium tower.Image via WikipediaThailand has become one of the globes epicenters for contemporary dental travel. It has become such a highlighted focus within the dental industry for many reasons, particularly the high quality dental services provided and the highly desirable tourism destinations on offer.
Thailand is an independent country located in South East Asia. It has excellent dental and medical infrastructure, provided by many large scale hospitals, with some being Joint Commission International accredited (this form of accreditation is discussed in further detail in later chapters). Thailand's rise to medical tourism fame came post 1997 when the national currency, the Thai Baht, severely devalued in price, causing a recession in the country, and forcing its health care providers to gear themselves towards international visitors rather than predominantly local Thai's.
Phuket, an island off the coast of Thailand, is a leading tourist destination and leading dental care destination in Thailand. Being favoured among tourists as the destination for less invasive procedures such as dental work and cosmetic procedures (larger, more serious operations such as dental implants are often carried out in the nation's capital, Bangkok), tourists are tempted by not only the high quality health care provided by Bangkok Hospital, Phuket, but as well by the glorious, amazing beach resorts on offer at nearby Patong Beach.
Thailand is where you can truly have a dental tourist holiday. Five star resorts along the beach are only a short taxi ride away from JCI accredited hospitals with fully comprehensive dental centre offering every possible dental treatment you could require. The blend of the highest levels of medical care combined with the unique Thai hospitality is very alluring to today's contemporary dental tourist.
Thailand is a logical location to go to for dental care. Whilst competing with other dental care locations such as Mexico and India, the draw card of being able to combine your dental work with a holiday set within a warm, tropical location is one of many benefits on offer.
Given the countries large gearing towards international tourists, there is often minimal to zero waiting time when booking in for dental care (this is another benefit!).

What You Need to Know About Airport Parking

Parking garageImage via Wikipedia
The majority of people travelling from UK airports prefer to use their car rather than take public transport because despite the government's best efforts for us to use public transport travelling by car is far more convenient and allows a greater level of control.
This means you will need to park your car and for most, this will mean simply turning up at the airport and parking your car.
Wrong, this is exactly what the airport wants you to do because they operate two completely different pricing systems called the gate price or turn rate and the pre-booked price.
The reason why the pre-booked price came into being is because the off airport car parks to encourage business were able to substantially undercut the gate price.
I have just taken the price for using one of the multi storey car parks at Manchester airport that are adjacent to each terminal and the price per day is a staggering £27. Imagine coming back off your 15 day stay in Greece to be faced by a bill of £405. But to be fair most people know not to use a multi-storey unless you are just dropping off or collecting. However, if you pre-book the price drops to £89.99, now that's what I call a saving.
So we now move to the cost of using the long stay which charges £64 for 7 days and £6.50 for every 24 hours thereafter. For a 15 day stay the cost amounts to £122.50 yet if you pre-book the same parking the cost reduces to £59.99 or £69.99 depending upon the terminal, which is still a huge saving.
At this time of the year the off airport car parks are operating at full capacity and their price is virtually the same as the on airport price, however, if you look a couple of months in advance the price between the long stay on airport price and off airport car parks is a saving of about £20.
Some off airport car parks are less than 10 minutes away from the terminal and some considerably further and it is a balance between convenience and price. One type of parking that combines the two is a return greet whereby you park at an off airport car park but pay extra to have your car waiting close to the terminal upon your return.
